The Future of Minnesota Sports Franchises

If one picture could accurately summarize the current state and the likely future of all small market sports franchises I think this has to be the one:

Kevin Garnett and David Ortiz

Who is that hiding behind Big Papi, thats right, it is Kevin Garnett. He looks to be having a great time in his new city. Meeting new friends and enjoying the high quality baseball team that Boston is fielding this year.

What do these two guys have in common: well they both used to play professionally in Minnesota. Before he became a powerhitting MVP candidate David Ortiz was playing first base and occasionally DH for the Minnesota Twins. KG, well he has always been a member of the Timberwolves until this offseason when he was traded to the Boston Celtics.

I think that both of these athletes certainly made good decisions in leaving Minnesota. The only problem I see with the exodus of talent from such small market venues is the disparity this will bring to professional sports leagues.

Suck it Minnesota!!
